Ava: Transcribe Voice to Text App revisa

We were trying to use this app to communicate with an elderly person who lost hearing due wax buildup. The person can read and speak but could not hear even loud noises. We used Ava Voice to display our messages in large text, even screen casting to a television for easy reading. However, the person insisted on reading the message out loud. Of course Ava Voice transcribed her voice, too. That created a distortion of our verbal message and caused much confusion for the reader. If we turned off the microphone after speaking our message, the text disappeared or diminished to small font which the elderly person could not read. We are still looking for a different solution while trying to become more familiar with Ava. Ava Voice could be very good with a way to toggle the microphone without losing the large text display.

Transcription Pages shut down in the middle of conversations, for no reason - at any time! I think Ava is recording, but she ‘pauses’ in the middle of a human speaking, without warning and for no reason! I do not realize it until I am half way thru the conversation!! So I miss part of their/my conversation.,,,I like for the person to stop talking sometimes before I look down at Ava, to find out the mic is not on, page is gone!

Write The Fine Manual. I’m sure it is a fine app. It could really be a life changing for the HOH people in my life. It appears to have many features for a variety of situations. What it doesn’t have is a manual, tutorial, getting started guide, or useful help files. The help ai is brain dead and if the app is as bad as its help AI it will deleted shortly. After several hours of trying my HOH SO and I can’t link two iPhones. We end up with three, four, or more “speakers.” The transcription appears randomly assigned to one, then mid sentence jumps to another, or just halts entirely. Do NOT use the QR code scan! That resulted in such a snarl we had to delete the app and all data, and start over. I get that manuals aren’t done these days. Paying competent tech writers cuts in profits. People don’t read, they watch videos. Except you know who reads, a lot? Deaf and HOH people! I doubt very much that we are the only ones having a tough time figuring out this app. It’s clearly a sophisticated tool with many capabilities. We’re left basically poking at it and trying guess how it works and what it can do. It’s a familiar feeling to the deaf and HOH, not being able to understand something and trying desperately to guess what is going on. So WTFM so users can RTFM and this app could really be something great. Now it’s just another disappointment.

A lot of times it doesn’t capture a word, even after repeating it. The reader gets confused. Very frustrating!

This is one of my favorite apps. I use it everyday and the accuracy is really high compared to other ones that I’ve tried in the past. ⭐️

I purchased it and now it does not record hardly anything

I am almost deaf, so without this wonderful App I was having a very hard time communicating. Thank you so much for developing this for people like me.

I am at work with noise inside warehouse while they talking it is not get captions at all that really frustrated caused it won’t get words which very loud noise like machines so no voices to get it in.

It stopped interpreting me in the middle of my appointment and repeated asking to repeat multiple times ! So it’s not good for me. Very frustrating for app to stop interpreting for me and I did paid for subscription ! Do better!

Clunky app and terrible customer service experience. Purchased the AVA license for an event and wasn’t able to use it because the promised features did not work. We asked for a refund after the AVA team accepted the failures were because of bugs in their system and they don’t want to give a refund. Apart from not meeting the technical needs promised, the customer service experience feels shady and dishonest.

I’m hearing impaired. The text is not clearing 😭. From speak to text it’s very difficult. Need to improve better communication thank you

Why not you can fix phone google, and phone something old. Becuase they don’t want buy new a phone. They poor. What you do? You will fix? Or something? I know why did you set the app this if you don’t. We can sue you

I am recently hard of hearing just a few years ago. I glad I found Ava! This app makes clarity of conversation a breeze. I have read and understand chats much better. This app is amazing been checking other apps out for captions none come close. You can even get a QR code right in the app so a friend can share the app and see caption in real time! I love this app wish more people knew about it. Thank you AVA!

Good so far

It’s a really good idea to use the deaf accessible on the mobile phone for important of the key conversations to the hearing people . It’s a better communication tool for the deaf access is almost certainly a perfect .

Was blind but now I see!!

You need to fix it! I am deaf. My family is too lazy to sign! Ava is no good for the deaf!

App is constantly freezing. Accuracy has dropped . Cannot send picture of problem. Reinstalled 3 times. Rebooted 4 times. Cannot get rid of problem. It used to work good.

Every time I want to use Ava, many times miss a lot of words or slow typing as we were making conversation. I felt it’s not worth the time using this app.

I have been trying to pay for Eva myself. I don’t want pro I don’t want my organization to pay for it or my Church to pay for it or anybody in this world to pay for it. I wanna pay for it and you people are not making that easy because you are so greedy you want a whole organization to do it.

Sometimes it’s garbling , misspelling, with asl interpret that’ll be nice sometime the asl interpret is sick so I use Ava. Thank you

Works like a professional CC program

Did a simple transcription and for 20 minutes I've been struggling to find it. Then tried the same task with otter and 30 seconds I was done. Delete this app. Ava nice name but useless

Get with it you’re losing potential users who walk away with this intrusive sign up you have.

I am a speech-language pathologist and recommend this App frequently. It would be even better if different people being transcribed were in a different color or font in the transcript. Adults with cognitive issues have trouble figuring out who is saying what. Thank You!

The concept is great, but it's definitely not user friendly. It's difficult to first time users, it took us a good amount of time to figure out how to do a group conversation. It shouldn't be complicated. Just let us click "start group chat" instead of searching through icons (that aren't labeled). The group chat icon is a QR code which is very confusing and does not really symbolize group conversations. Translation isn't reliable. I did not expect perfection. Other reviews have covered this issue too. Customer service tries to help, but they do not address my frustrations as a deaf user. Emily from Ava was quite responsive and helpful until I told her I did not feel like she understood my feedback and that it would be better if I spoke to a deaf customer service representative I asked to speak to a deaf customer service representative instead. This is when Emily stopped responding to my messages... I think it is sad that I cannot communicate in my language directly with a customer representative from Ava.

You don’t need to ask them for permissions. I hate to add names like 1,000 people on it.

My wife is deaf and sometimes misses out on our church services because her translator, who btw is a wonderful lady , misses church , she has a life too , so I think this is going to be a great addition to our ASL help !!

Voice to text but too far ?

I just realized I can save the captions and forward them to myself to archive or forward to someone else. This is a game changer!!!!

Word are not coming out right when they speak?

I had the ava app open in front of me in minutes after searching the internet for a voice to text app. The straightforward startup tutorial helps define the various functions and menus. I turned to my neighbor and spoke. My words appeared on my phone screen in bold letters. The comment was about an unplugged extension cord. Then I said hello for the first time. Great product for those who don’t know sign language.

Use this primarily for my job as I am deaf. To be able to do Video Ops which requires for me to use a PL to communicate with show directors from PCR. This is godsend!

I thought I could put ear pad next to my phone as tour guide used microphone so it could translate into English. I thought it would translate so I sat far-away and use ear pad plugged to the box . It didn’t work!😡it has been frustrating for me . If a person speaks it will work. I went on a tour with tour guide using microphone but I had to sit really close. It works little making so many mistakes. I gave up on u, Ava!

Hard-of-hearing people, including those of us who wear hearing aids, often need support in certain environments, for example, lecture halls, houses of worship, and courtrooms. I thought I could use this app to hear services in a church, so I set myself and phone directly under a loudspeaker broadcasting from the mic on the pulpit. Useless! It directed me to speak into the phone, and couldn’t detect anything coming at me from the environment. The makers of this app should revisit the way they promote it. I feel cheated.

I barely got it but it seems to work nicely. I’m having a hard time finding what it costs so I may or may not like it when the cost is discovered.

I just got the free trial today. We were trying it out having fun. Closed it for a minute. Went back to it and it wouldn’t caption what we said anymore and we couldn’t figure out why. WE were my audiologist and me.

It hears a few words, then nothing. After stopping and then restarting the app, I get another few words. Very very broken. (Also: bad user interface, bad feature set, broken buttons, etc.). I hope I’m not paying for this… —They do have a responsive tech support — and the concept is great, with a few more bug fixes! But there seem to be better products out there.

Look elsewhere for transcription services. It just plain does not work on several fronts. The app fails to launch sometimes but not every time. The accuracy is poor. Teams and my iPhone do a much better job. The app for my Mac is even worse. Don’t get me started in that. The sales group seems confused. I was being contacted by 2 different people who were unaware the other was reaching out. Bad product being built by a company that clearly doesn’t know what it is doing.
